I’m Ben, founder of DrivenByDetail. My journey into the automotive world began at a young age with a deep passion for cars. I started my career studying Maintenance and Repair at Eastbourne College, which laid the groundwork for a hands-on, technical approach to vehicle care.

From there, I spent several years building a broad skill set across various roles in the automotive industry. I began at Huets In-Car Specialists, installing custom audio systems, head units, boot builds, reversing cameras, alarms, immobilisers, and carrying out van conversions. This experience gave me a strong foundation in both technical installation and working with high-end, bespoke vehicle setups.

After a brief time with a Volkswagen main dealership, I moved on to Visick Cars, one of Eastbourne’s most respected garages. For four years, I worked as a technician servicing and repairing both heavy goods and light commercial vehicles — gaining valuable experience in diagnostics, mechanical work, and customer service.

Later, I joined Auto Solutions, specialising in fitting aftermarket upgrades including towbars, parking sensors, security enhancements, remaps, and fleet van conversions. This role expanded my expertise into commercial solutions and vehicle customisation, further sharpening my attention to detail and high standards of finish.

But it was always detailing that truly captured my interest — the satisfaction of transforming a vehicle and bringing out its best. That passion, along with the desire to build something for myself and be more present with my young family (two under two!), led me to launch DrivenByDetail.

Today, I operate from a fully equipped, purpose-built garage at home in North Harbour, recently refurbished to offer a clean, professional, and climate-controlled environment tailored specifically for detailing. From maintenance washes to multi-stage corrections and long-lasting ceramic coatings, every service is delivered to the highest standard using the best products available.

I exclusively use Cartec’s biodegradable cleaning range, ensuring every wash is safe, effective, and environmentally responsible. For durable protection and outstanding finishes, I rely on Performance PPL coatings and solutions.

While your vehicle is being looked after, you're just a short walk from the beach, local restaurants, and Crumbles Shopping Centre. EV charging is also available for added convenience.
